This workshop is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to implement and maintain an effective SMS in your own organisation.

By attending this workshop, you’ll understand the functions and responsibilities of a Safety Manager. You’ll be able to implement a SMS through applying:

  • risk management principles and tools
  • safety assurance principles and tools
  • safety communication principles and tools
  • knowledge of human factors and their interaction with the safety management system
  • good leadership and commitment
  • tools for building a sustainable and effective safety culture
  • the Civil Aviation Act 1990 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 to their role in the aviation industry.

You’ll receive comprehensive guidance material and access to all the latest CAA safety resources and support.

Note: This workshop is different to the SMS workshops which ran through to 2018 which looked at the CAA's expectations around implementation plans and meeting transitional requirements. This workshop is designed to provide you with the tools and principles of implementing and maintaining an effective SMS.

Workshop fee

The workshop fee is $375 including GST. Accommodation and travel costs are your responsibility, but morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided.
