ACAG background

Since its inception in 2005, ACAG has pursued the enhancement of aviation safety in New Zealand by monitoring progress of rules and policy issues and promoting the participation of interested persons in the issue assessment process. Meetings are held 3 times per year with CAA during which ACAG is able to identify issues to be addressed by the CAA, assess the priority of issues, and also provide aviation community advice and technical expertise on the implementation of both regulatory and non-regulatory interventions.

The Aviation Community Advisory Group (ACAG) consists of twelve members drawn from across the wider aviation community to provide technical and strategic advice to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on issues arising within the aviation system. The group has nine permanent members (representing air traffic control, airlines, pilots, engineers, airports, the aviation industry, general aviation, aircraft owners and operators) and three elected members.
