Subpart A - General

Rule 91.9 is amended as follows: 

(a) in rule 91.9(a) insert after the word ‘Act’ the words ‘, the Aviation Crimes Act 1972,’;

(b) in rule 91.9(b) insert after the words ‘provided in’ the words ‘the Aviation Crimes Act 1972 or in’;

(c) insert after the last word in paragraph (4) in rule 91.9(c) ‘; or (5) the firearm is carried by a foreign in-flight security officer in the course of their duties’;

(d) insert after the last word in paragraph (2) in rule 91.9(d) ‘; or (3) by a foreign inflight security officer in the course of their duties’;

(e) in rule 91.9(h) insert before the words ‘a person’ the words ‘an in-flight security officer, a foreign in-flight security officer, or by’. 


 

This note is not part of the Rule but is intended to indicate its general effect.

  • This rule amends the Civil Aviation Rule Part 91, General Operating and Flight Rules (the principal rule). 
  • This rule amends the principal rule to ensure that an in-flight security officer or foreign in-flight security officer is not prohibited from carrying or discharging a weapon on an aircraft in the course of their duties, and ensure that the pilot-in-command is informed.
