From 23 October we begin two pieces of research that will help us understand how people view the Civil Aviation Authority and New Zealand’s aviation safety and security system.

Working with independent research company Verian, we are launching the 2026 Stakeholder Engagement Survey and Feel Safe Survey. Together, these surveys will provide valuable insight into levels of trust and confidence in both the aviation system and CAA, helping inform our planning, reporting and communications.

The Stakeholder Survey, closing on 17 November, will gather feedback from around 2,000 aviation sector participants and organisations. It will cover regulatory stewardship and regulatory practice, stakeholder experience and engagement, value for money, organisational performance and our overall reputation. The feedback provided will give an updated industry perspective on what’s going well, and areas where improvement is needed.

The Feel Safe Survey will seek feedback from New Zealand and international travellers about their confidence in aviation safety and security, their experiences with aviation security processes, and how safe and secure they feel when flying.

If you don’t receive an invitation and would like to take part in the stakeholder survey, please email surveys@caa.govt.nz
