We’re proud to share that Kim Beaumont, Principal Advisor at the CAA, has won an award for a Regulatory Intelligence Handbook co-authored with two colleagues from Department of Internal Affairs (NZ) (Abi Bloy and Alexandra Neems).
The handbook won “Intelligence Publication of the Year” by the Australian Institute of Professional Intelligence Officers (AIPIO)(external link). This is the first time a New Zealand publication has won this award. Being recognised by trans-Tasman colleagues in this way is a huge achievement not only for the authors, but for the New Zealand intelligence community more broadly.
AIPIO has since invited the authors to lead a workshop on regulatory intelligence at AIPIO’s conference in Adelaide next year.
Kim, Abi and Alex have a wealth of intelligence experience in New Zealand national security, law enforcement, health and regulatory agencies.
Overall, the handbook aims to demystify intelligence analysis, help intelligence analysts adapt their skills to a regulatory context, and help regulatory managers make the best use of intelligence teams and products.
Kim, Abi and Alex always wanted the handbook to be a free resource, so that anyone can use it. It’s not intended to be the “last word” on the regulatory intelligence subject, and the authors hope it will inform ongoing continuous improvement efforts across both intelligence and regulatory sectors. Well done all.
