Requirements for maintaining your medical examiner designation are stated in CAR Part 67.203. It includes the ongoing requirement for aviation medicine and regulatory medicine training.

It also requires an up-to-date exposition to be maintained and available for inspection.

CME requirements

Rule 67.203(a)(5) outlines medical examiners CME requirements:

  • Attendance at a minimum of 18 hours CME in aviation medicine and aviation regulation courses acceptable to the Director during the previous 36 months
  • Attendance at at least one CAA NZ Medical Examiner annual refresher training day during the previous 36 months (in person or by virtual meeting)

Note: Activities such as attendance of aviation medicine conferences overseas, peer groups are potentially acceptable for contributing to the CME hours requirements.
